The editing process for the “Life Skills Corner: Healthy Self-Management” video was a tedious but rewarding experience. It took approximately three days to complete the editing and rendering of the video for publication.
My plan was to use either VSDC or Powtoon to create my final production. However, Powtoon had limitations to the editing process and I the VSDC interface was a little complicated. My team mate introduced me to Flexclip, and I found the editing tool to be very user-friendly, so it was used to complete the project.

The Non-Linear editing technique was used to produce the video; I was able to easily add video clips, insert transitions and overlays to not only camouflage a few flaws but also improve the viewer’s experience. I used audacity to record audio to accompany a few video clips and utilized a background music track in Flexclip to enhance the video output.
Completing this video was a great achievement for me because it was my first scripted production utilizing a new video editing tool. Despite the numerous challenges experienced during the production phase and the potential opportunities for improvement, the final product can still achieve the goal of informing and engaging the target audience.
The use of colour and music will gain the viewer’s attention while and on-screen text will provide key take away points for improved behaviour.
